Call for Abstracts 

We invite submissions of abstracts for oral and poster presentations at the inaugural Chilkat Biodiversity Forum, to be held in Haines, Alaska on the traditional lands of Jilkáat Kwáan and LX̱oot Kwáan (Chilkat and Chilkoot peoples). This interdisciplinary gathering will bring together researchers, practitioners, students, community scientists, knowledge holders, and local residents to share scientific research, traditional knowledge, and applied insights focused on the biodiversity, ecology, and environmental significance of the Chilkat Valley watershed.

We welcome abstracts on topics including (but not limited to): Biodiversity and species ecology across terrestrial and aquatic systems, landscape and watershed processes, climate change impacts and adaptation, Traditional and Indigenous ecological knowledge, conservation science and management, community-based monitoring and collaborative research, applied science for resource stewardship and policy.

All disciplines and career stages are encouraged to participate. Presentations that build bridges between scientific research and Indigenous or local knowledge are especially welcomed

Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and include title, authors, affiliations, and a brief description of objectives, methods, results, and relevance to the Chilkat Valley context.

  • Indicate whether you prefer an oral or poster presentation.

  • Include contact information for the corresponding author.

  • Abstracts due by: Friday, February 27, 2026
